Definitely not! Even if you want to promote yourself there has to be at least a few bucks left over! I’m not stingy or greedy but I deliver something and that should be paid! And on top of that I’ll always support other musicians and BUY their music which I use in my DJ sets. On the other hand I am a event promoter by myself and like to do artist sharing what means you’ll come to my events and I’ll play at yours this is the only ideal reason to play for free!
the only time you should play for free.. ..if a VERY good friend runs a event and the night was empty and he would lose lots of money BUT he should offer you still some cash and then u can decide if u say Noo keep it…. what is much worster then playing for free ..and kills the scene is that scenario ..promoter a books promoter b so promoter a gets a booking at the event from promoter b ..that really piss me off
die abbildung trifft es eigentlich genau auf den punkt! klar, für gute freunde oder loyale, dich immer wieder buchende veranstalter kann man mal eine ausnahme machen, wenn die party nicht gut gelaufen ist.
schwierig wird es immer dann, wenn veranstalter über alles mit dir reden, nur nicht zum thema gage kommen. ich finde nämlich, dass das anschneiden dieser (wichtigen) sache nicht die aufgabe des djs ist! ich bereite mich auf jeden auftritt vor und gebe mein bestes! diese arbeit muss einfach be-, bzw. entlohnt werden!
True talking! Hard work must be mentioned and honored. At least with cash! I always move well prepared and fully motivated to my gigs and give my best to entertain the people. A promoter has to take the risk of a fail. If he’s a good friend and books me on a not well attended Party I’d be the last one who is demonstrating. But the salary theme must be discussed before the party starts. I also don’t beg for my money at the end of the month on my daily life work.
Ja eine sehr sehr wichtige Sache die du hier hervorhebst. Es kommt, wie schon gesagt wurde, immer ganz darauf an was für ein Event und für wen… Das ein dj dafür belohnt werden muss finde ich ganz klar.. Und das ist nicht mit ein paar Getränkemarken oder Gästeliste getan. Ich persönlich bereite mich sehr intensiv auf jeden auftritt vor. Nach der Arbeit steht man dann noch stunden vor den decks und macht sich einen kopf wie man andere mit der Musik glücklich macht.
Allerdings macht uns djs das auflegen ja sehr viel spass gerade vor leuten. Und da ist auch okay mal zu sagen „lass mal stecken“…. Aber man darf halt auch nicht vergessen das die Musik auch viel Geld kostet. Ich zum Beispiel lege ausschließlich vinyl auf und was eine platte kostet brauch ich nicht zu sagen.
Ich finde es wichtig das das einfach nicht vergessen wird!! Und all die Zeit die man in so ein set steckt einfach belohnt werden muss.
Natürlich nicht… Bei aller Liebe: Da steckt auch ne Menge Arbeit hinter!
Stimme da auch mit den bisherigen Kommentaren vollkommen überein. Steckt halt echt viel Arbeit dahinter, zumindest wenn man einen gewissen Anspruch an seine Sets hat wie zB Harmonic Mixing. Von eigenen Tunes will ich erst gar nicht sprechen, das Produzieren ist der größte Zeitfresser überhaupt 😉
